PowerShift – The Forward

Welcome to the inaugural issue of PowerShift, a new quarterly magazine from GridX. We are thrilled to introduce this new publication, created specifically for energy and utility professionals navigating our evolving landscape. Similar to our award-winning podcast, With Great Power, we wanted to create an outlet for compelling storytelling around the innovators and innovations driving the clean energy transition.  The theme of our first issue is Transformation. It’s a topic that resonates deeply with me and across our industry.

At GridX, we believe that transformation is not just about adapting to change—it’s about leading it. While there are other magazines in our industry committed to covering these issues, we wanted to create something that is more than just a collection of articles. It’s a resource, a conversation starter, and a source of inspiration for those working at the forefront of the energy transition. It leans heavily on design and creativity and is much more than just words on a page. So each quarter, we’ll bring you insights into key industry trends, technical deep dives to help you navigate complex challenges, and perspectives from industry leaders who are redefining what’s possible. And because we know that great work happens when we stay curious and engaged, we’ve included a few fun surprises—like tech reviews, infographics, a humorous comic, and a space for you, our readers, to share your thoughts.

In this issue, you’ll find an in-depth look at how utilities are rethinking rate design to better align with grid needs and customer behavior.
